Margaret Howell has been at the forefront of British fashion since founding her eponymous label at her kitchen table in 1972. Focused on cut, fabric and detail, Howell exemplifies unpretentious British design; the style and quality of her clothing means that it is made to last. In a new retrospective, Howell’s oeuvre is showcased in a series of 40 photographs taken by renowned photographer Alasdair McLellan over a 13-year period. Shot in the British countryside, the photographs are a testament to Howell’s rational romanticization of Britain and the collaborative relationship of designer and photographer. The exhibition Alasdair McLellan for Margaret Howell is on display until March 19th.
