The New York Edition, in Manhattan’s landmark art deco Metropolitan Life Tower, houses 271 rooms, suites and penthouses conceived by Ian Schrager—co-founder of the city’s legendary Studio 54. The lobby welcomes guests into a serene, neutral palette of ivory, taupe and white and introduces a calming black tea scent that reappears in custom Le Labo bath amenities in the guest bathrooms. Fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky’s iconic 1963 “Bubble” series decorates each of the guest rooms, all of which feature views over the cityscape, comfortable king beds and rainforest showers. On the second floor of the property, three small, connected dining rooms form The Clocktower—a Michelin-starred restaurant serving chef Jason Atherton’s contemporary takes on English classics.
