An 18-story building in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, The Standard High Line is a monolith of concrete and glass that straddles (literally) the former train line turned busy public park from which it takes its name. The 338 rooms—designed by architectural firm Roman and Williams—range in size from standard queen to suite, and are each fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows offering immersive views over either the city or the Hudson River. A subtle color scheme repeatedly draws the eye outside but touches like tambour wooden ceilings, rain showers with natural light, and fluffy pillows and Italian sheets bring warmth and comfort into the room. The Whitney Museum of American Art is less than five minute’s walk away, and The Standard Grill—the hotel’s in-house bistro—is highly recommended for cocktails and dinner.
