Ace Hotel Brooklyn

A Le Corbusier-inspired addition to Downtown Brooklyn.
Photography by Stephen Kent Johnson.

Like its Manhattan sister, the latest Ace Hotel in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood was designed by Roman and Williams. The property’s neo-brutalist exterior continues inside to the lobby, where exposed concrete is warmed with natural materials—douglas fir panels, white oak flooring and leather furnishings—in a cavernous series of spaces that support coworking during the daytime and dining and drinking into the late evening. The guest rooms, which feature large windows and custom furniture in an earthy palette of olive, burgundy and brown, are inspired by Le Cabanon, the holiday cabin of Le Corbusier. Despite there being over 250 guest rooms, no two are the same. Each showcases the borough’s artistic talent, featuring a textile or fiber artwork from one of two dozen local artists.
