In 1927, Mallet-Stevens completed a summer residence in Hyères for art patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles. The villa inspired the surrealist artist Man Ray’s 1929 film Les Mystères du Château de Dé and is today run as an arts center. Nestled in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, in an area known as the Village d’Auteuil near the city’s western edge, rue Mallet-Stevens feels resolutely un-Parisian.
